Eucharistic Adoration Chapel
St. Mel's is blessed to have a 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. It gives parishioners the opportunity to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament anytime, day or night. Parishioners may contact Marge Della Villa at 967-0641 or Bill Savage at 944-2584 to sign up for an hour each week to sit with Jesus.
Legion of Mary
What is the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary began in Dublin, Ireland in 1921 and came to the U.S. in 1931. It was founded by Frank Duff. It has spread all over the world. It is the only evangelical organization.
The parish unit is called a praesidium. The members meet weekly for at least an hour. Each member is assigned a 2-hour work assignment, calling on the homes of parishioners and making sick calls at rest homes, hospitals and private residences.
The meeting format and the table arrangement is the same at every Legion of Mary meeting throughout the world. Pages of the handbook are read at every meeting and the Tessera (the Legion of Mary prayer book) are read at specific times of the meeting.
All legionnaires promote the rosary as well as their evangelization in the community.
St Mel's morning Legion of Mary group meets every Thursday morning after the 8:30AM mass in the Baptismal Room. Contact Joyce Savage 944-2584
