What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Oh Sacrament most Holy, Oh Sacrament Divine, All Praise and all Thanksgiving be every moment Thine.
A Description of Eucharist Adoration
Eucharistic Adoration is adoring and honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ in a deeper sense. It involve "the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us.
During Adoration, we remain silent and wait and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist. The Eucharist is Jesus truly present: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity!
Recall the Disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, waiting with Jesus as He prayed. Unfortunately, they fell asleep. Our job is to be alert and wait and be aware of Christ in our presence and listen to His plans for us.
Things to Do During Private Eucharistic Adoration
Fr. Benedict Groeschel mentions in his book, "In the Presence of Our Lord: The History, Theology and Psychology of Eucharistic Devotion" that there are "four kinds of prayer most appropriate in the presence of the Eucharist.
The four types of prayers and meditations and their descriptions are listed below:
Adoration and praise is one type or prayer appropriate for adoration. One place you can go to find prayers for all four types is in the Psalms. The ancient prayer of the Church called the Liturgy of the Hours is an excellent way to pray through the Book of Psalms throughout the year. The following is a link to the online prayers by day. You may print them to bring them with you to the Chapel on your time of adoration.
Prayers of Thanksgiving is another type of prayer appropriate for your time in the chapel. You can find many prayers of thanksgiving on the following link.
Repentance can be a very rewarding way to spend your time in chapel. It can provide preparation for Reconciliation or reflection after Reconciliation. Reciting the "Jesus Prayer" is one way. Say "Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner", repeatedly as you relax your heart and your mind.
Trusting intercession is the 4th way of spending time in the chapel. There are many prayers through saints available almost everywhere. They are easily found online. Many times, there are saints prayer cards in the vestibule or available at the church store. One of the greatest intercessory prayers is the Holy Rosary. The chapel has rosary pamphlets to assist you in reciting the prayers and reflecting on each of the mysteries. For an explanation of the mysteries and prayers in the rosary, visit the following website.
Other things you can do in Eucharistic Chapel:
You can pray for someone who needs help or who is sick or any other reason
Most important in the time you have, take time to just sit quietly and listen and wait. Breathe in and out and leave that time in the Lord's hands.
